EVANGELISM

THE WORD FOR BRAZIL has as its mission also to reach the lost, striving to follow Jesus' instructions to "go into all the world" and to teach the Gospel to all nations.

CENTRO DE ESTUDOS TEOLÓGICOS (Center for Theological Studies) is the evangelistic and training branch of this ministry. It was founded in 1985 by Dr. Alaor Leite. Every year about 1,600 people enroll in free correspondence courses and learn the basic teachings of the Gospel about salvation in Jesus Christ.

In the last two years, there have been an estimated 450 baptisms as a result of usage of CET's courses in evangelism. About 50 our of direct students have accepted Christ as their Lord and Savior as well.

CET's website is undergoing a major re-structuring. Since 1996, CET has been offering its correspondence courses on-line with an automated grading system. When a student completes a given course, CET issues a Certificate of Completion and mails it to the closest local church. If there is none, the certificate is mailed directly to the student.

CET publishes flyers and tracts, the newest one being an "invitation" to be used by congregations to invite new visitors to weekly meetings. Using an innovative format and a solid and biblically sound text, this new evangelistic tool has been adopted by several of the main congregations in Brazil.

CET is also the apologetic branch of this ministry. It publishes theological and docrtinal material more specific to churches of Christ, serving as a reference point for congregations around the nation. We receive numerous letters from Christians asking us tough questions about doctrine, sects, and other topics.
